How to Keep Your House Clean?

September 18, 2017

If you lead a busy lifestyle then keeping your house clean can, unfortunately, plunge to the bottom of your list of priorities far too easily. Even if you begin the week with a clean and tidy house the clutter slowly piles up, the clean laundry stays in the tumble dryer and the clean pots stay in the dishwasher. When you finally get home from a long, hectic day, all you want to do is relax and so the mess increases. By this point you’ve realised that it will take several hours of your weekend to clean up and so the cycle begins again, with precious weekend hours wasted on cleaning. Home should be a relaxing place to come back too, and keeping it clean shouldn’t be an extra irritant that you just don’t need. Believe it or not, there is a way to end the cycle. Here’s the secret: do just a small amount every day to stop it from building up. Spending just a few extra minutes here and there can save you hours of cleaning at the weekend, or call Mississauga Home Cleaning.

Making your bed first thing in the morning will kick-start your productivity levels and make the room instantly look tidier. Plus it only takes a few seconds of your time! When you take your morning (or evening) shower, take a few seconds to spray your shower with cleaner afterwards to stop dirt from building up. Then whilst your morning coffee is brewing, empty the dishwasher so it’s ready for your breakfast pots to go straight in. As you leave to work, after following these simple steps, take the trash and recycling with you to stop it from piling up.

On returning home in the evening put on a clothes wash as soon as possible, if you have enough laundry. This way you will have time to dry, fold and put away your clean washing before bed. If you plan to re-wear your clothes before washing them, hang them up immediately. It only takes a few seconds of your time and prevents a whole lot of mess building up. When dinner time rolls around, get into the habit of cleaning whilst you cook so there’s only a few pots to clean after your meal. Always wipe down the counters and start the dishwasher before going to bed – the morning is much more pleasant when you wake up to a spotless kitchen. Head to the living room to relax and watch TV, but make use of those annoying commercial breaks by taking the opportunity to wipe down the tables in the living room. Every time you switch off the TV, fluff up the cushions at the same time.

When you finally head to the bathroom to brush your teeth, ensure that you quickly put away any products left out from the morning. Keep some cleaning wipes and toilet cleaner in the bathroom. Before you brush your teeth, spray some cleaning product into your toilet. By the time you’re done it will have worked its magic and the toilet will just need a quick wipe over. Take ten seconds to wipe the bathroom counters whilst you’re at it.

Sure, you’ll still have larger tasks such as vacuuming, but when the weekend rolls around there will be far less to do. Get started as soon as you wake up and do not procrastinate. Once you start a job do not move on to anything else until you finish. Get the family involved and the cleaning will be done in no time, leaving you free to enjoy some time off.

Applying just some of these tips and tricks will ensure that your home is a nicer place to be, and your weekends are free for you to enjoy. Not to mention, you’ll never again be caught off-guard by surprise visitors when your house is a mess!
